About TomTom

TomTom is the leading independent location technology specialist, keeping the world moving with highly accurate maps, navigation software, real-time traffic information and services.

We create the most innovative technologies to help achieve our vision: a safe, connected, autonomous world that is free of congestion and emissions. By combining our extensive experience with leading business and technology partners, we power connected vehicles, smart mobility and, ultimately, autonomous driving.

Since introducing the easy-to-use navigation device (considered by Time magazine as one of the most influential gadgets of all time), our business has transitioned from hardware to software. We work with leading car manufacturers around the world, including Groupe PSA, BMW, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz, as well as customers who use our technologies for their location-based applications, such as Apple, Uber and Microsoft.

Data – used responsibly – is the foundation of everything we do at TomTom. We have an ever-growing community of more than 500 million data sources that generate over 21 billion anonymized location measurements every day. This provides the source data used to deliver accurate and up-to-date traffic information to our customers.

Headquartered in Amsterdam with offices in 30 countries, our technologies are trusted by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

Our Businesses

Automotive and Enterprise

Our Automotive and Enterprise businesses license maps, navigation software and online services such as traffic information as components to use in customers’ applications.

Automotive

Our location-based application components are licensed through our Automotive business unit to automotive customers (car manufacturers and their Tier 1 vendors) for in-vehicle navigation, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD). Our products hold the same promise for our Automotive customers as for the end users: uncompromising quality, continuous innovation, ease of use and reduced complexity. We offer these components in a flexible way to our automotive customers and, when combined, they create the most advanced connected navigation system available today.

Enterprise

Our Enterprise customers – technology companies, geographical information systems (GIS) providers, government bodies and traffic management institutions – use our products to create location-enabled applications.

Consumer

Our Consumer business offers drivers directions, guidance, information and inspiration for their journeys on the road. By creating the world’s largest connected driving community, TomTom  helps people to make smarter decisions to get where they want to be effortlessly, quickly and safely.

Our Core Technologies

Maps

We are a global leader in maps for the world’s largest technology companies, car manufacturers, fleet management organizations, cities and the end consumer, the driver. We have revolutionized the way that maps are updated by creating our own map-making platform, able to deliver continuously up-to-date standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) maps.

With our maps, we are empowering users to make smarter mobility decisions. From simple decisions such as how to get to the airport as quickly as possible, to the more complex such as how to change a city’s infrastructure to accommodate the mobility of a growing population, advancing in the future to mobility decisions for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Navigation Software

We deliver a market-leading, global, end-to-end navigation experience. Flexible and customizable, it is easy to integrate in a vehicle that will be driven by a human, a computer, or both.

Traffic Information and Services

We have a full portfolio of services, including traffic information, speed cameras, parking, fuel stop locations, electric vehicle stations and weather, which provide a real-time value-added layer to our mapping technology. These services are widely used across smart mobility platforms, car and smartphone manufacturers, ‘mobility app’ makers, government organizations and a wealth of additional customers.
